Review: Blood Promise (VA #4) by Richelle Mead
Title: Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4)
Author: Richelle Mead
Summary:
The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the
entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by
Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a
mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim
matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different
paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last
surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on
her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the
earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the
question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?
Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

Review:
Again the story continues where the last one stopped. All
the same characters are back.
The story this time is Rose going off to try to find
Dimitri, so she can kill him. He became a Stigoi in the last book… and she
knows that he would rather be dead than be undead. So, off she goes to Russia
in hopes he would have returned to his homeland.
We got to find out more about who Dimitri was. Where he came
from, who his family is. Which was pretty cool. I liked his family, especially
the Grandma! Ill be like that when im old!! Totally.
We also got to see memories from Rose and Dimirtis time
together, which were only hinted at in previous books, but fully explained in
this one. It was nice to see more of their romance, that I had felt was so
lacking in the earlier books. That being said, it also pretty muched sucked…
for 2 reasons. First, because obviously hes a bad guy now, and Im only NOW
getting to like him more. BUT also bec it means you feel Rose’s pain more, as
she remembers things about him that she loved, and now mourns.
I liked Adrian ten times more in this book, than in any of
the other books! You finally got to see a redeeming side of him, which was a
nice change. There were also a few new characters, that aren’t as rosy as they
appear.
There was kinda a surprise ending… which is leading into the
next book of course. Im curious how this series will end. There is little to no
hope for Rose and Dimitri, yet Mead continuously dangles a carrot in front of
the readers face with hope.
Overall, a much more exciting novel. Im still torn between
the last book and this one- in which is the best!
Rating: 5 Stars.
Everything I have read about this series says it just keeps getting better - will have wrangle with the budget gods for them to let me get started as it sounds so good. Thank you for sharing.
