Image
Title: H2o The Novel Authors: Austin Boyd and  Brannon Hollingsworth Summary:   H2O is a contemporary crossover women’s novel that tells the story of Kate Pepper, a successful young business woman in Seattle whose life is suddenly—and strangely—turned upside down. Unexplainable visions torment her every time she gets wet. Sinking into despair, frantic to avoid water at any cost, Kate ultimately finds romance and redemption through the advice of simple people who love her for who she is, not what she was.    Kate Pepper has it all . . . a razor-sharp intellect, perfect health, stunning beauty, a wildly successful career, and all the money she can spend. Or rather, she thinks she has it all.    Despite the perfect shell, there’s something dark inside Kate. Terrible visions send her into a deep depression and her world crumbles. All her business savvy and elite connections don’t make a difference; she has lost control. Who will save her...

Review: Indomitable by J Meyers

Image
Title: Indomitable Author: J.Meyers Summary: Perhaps the most dangerous person to gain unimaginable power is the one who feels oppressed. And full of wrath. For very good reason. Review: So… Indomitable is a prequel to Intangible told in Jonas’s POV. In case you haven’t read Intangible, I wont have any spoilers, but it is about twins, a brother and sister, who are prophesied to either destroy the Realm (where the supernatural live) or save it. Because of this, many want to kill them, and some want to protect them. Jonas is a vampire who was originally meant to kill them when they were born. But he didn’t want to kill innocent babies, and didn’t. Instead another vampire was said to have killed them. This is a short story, that tells some background into who Jonas is, and what makes him who he is. The things he went through in his human life (being a black man, he was a slave and had to watch some horrible things happen) and about how he went all vengeful after he ...

Review: Archers of Avalon #3

Image
Title: Avow  (Archers of Avalon #3) Author: Chelsea Fine Summary: Scarlet remembers. Everything. Her past lives, Tristan, Gabriel, Nate: she remembers it all--including how to get to the Fountain of Youth. But time is running out. Heather and Gabriel have been kidnapped by Raven, while the curse that has plagued Scarlet and Tristan for centuries has shifted, putting the star-crossed lovers in more danger than ever before. Water from the Fountain of Youth is the only thing that can save Scarlet and her loved ones. But the water comes at a price. With lives--and hearts--at stake, Scarlet leads her friends on a dangerous journey to the Fountain of Youth. Where eternal life is possible, but death is certain Review: Wow! I don’t even know where to start with this review. Certain words come to mind… Epic. Amazing. Awe-inspiring. Love. Real, true love. But… it doesn’t appear I can form coherent sentences! But, ill try. Avow starts immediately after Awry ends....

Self-Pubbing is harder than it looks!

Image
So, I feel the urge to update things once again. You may think that once you write a book, then the hard work is done. But you would be sorely incorrect . Yes, writing a book is hard . It takes a lot of hard work, patience and dedication, but really, that’s the easy part. That’s just telling a story. The hard parts come later, after you have written it. See, this is what happened to me. I finished writing my book in Jan 2012. YES- almost ONE FULL year ago. Then I edited it. Then revised and edited again. Then sent it to a pretty freakin awesome beta reader, and revised and edited again. Then I had to take a step back from it, and started writing the sequel. Then I went back and edited it again . Then I decided it was ready, had photos taken for the cover by an amazing photographer (shout out to Digitally Different Photography ) and the cover was made. Then I thought, 10 months later and now its ready. (somewhere in there I queried agents 3 different t...

Review: Minder by J. Kabay

Image
Title: Minder Author: J. Kabay Summary: Oh, Parents. If you knew what was inside that security blanket, you'd never throw it away. Childhood is governed from a sacred place within the trees, lit by fireflies, and overseen by ancient souls devoted to the sanctity of youth. Some kids are lucky enough to visit this place, but mortal danger arises for Sophia, who arrives uninvited. Readers are carried through a whimsical, often nail-biting adventure as brother and sister confront every parent's worst nightmare. Dragons and fairies are alive and well in this old-world tale, where scary things happen to children who ignore their Minders. P.S. Childhood ends at 30. And this book proves it. Review: So, I want to start out by saying that I know this author personally, and as Ive mentioned before, im always wary to read (or see, or hear)something that someone I know has created because of two things. First, what if you don't like it? What if when you read it, its...

Her house reeks of keggers past and her bestie is just a slight bit vulgar. But the thing is—they both aid in making life refreshingly uneventful.   So much for hard-earned mediocrity when Luca Grinaldi appears on the scene. Luca’s sudden presence on campus is hard to ignore. Those bright eyes act like a beacon to unsuspecting females, and with features like his, he’s got to be moonlighting for GQ. Review: Fate Succumbs (Timber Wolves #3)

Image
Title: Fate Succombs (Timber Wolves #3) Author: Tammy Blackwell Summary: Having narrowly escaped an unjust death sentence, Scout Donovan is on the run. But the more she discovers about the Alpha Pack and herself, the more she realizes she can’t run forever. Destiny is propelling her towards an unavoidable battle. Can Scout survive, or will she finally succumb to fate? Review: Uhhh… I think Im a little speechless at the moment. As I sit here at my computer, trying to figure out HOW to say what Im feeling, I just cant think of the words!  This was an EPIC finale to the Timber Wolves series! It had everything a novel should have! Excitement and fear, worry and action, hope and truth, and romance! The story follows Scout and she and Liam are in hiding. For a large portion of this novel, it is only Liam and Scout as they make their way across the USA and Canada, training to try and find a way to overthrow the Alpha Pack.  Talley, Charlie and Jace are also present, j...

Review: Time Mends (Timber Wolves #2)

Image
Title: Time Mends (Timber Wolves #2) Author: Tammy Blackwell Summary: After a tragic accident leaves her battered, heartbroken, and alone, Scout Donovan would rather hide in dreams than face reality. But things are changing quickly in Scout's life. Soon she's pulled back into the world of Shifters and Seers, with her best friend's fate depending on Scout's ability to protect her. Can Scout pull it together in time to save Talley, or is the past too much to overcome? Review: (There will be spoilers from the first book in this review- so If you haven’t read the first book- be forewarned) SO- This story starts almost immediately where the first one stops. Scout has been injured by her brother in coyote form and attempting to recover (though it is proving difficult), Alex is dead, and now she and Charlie aren’t speaking. She also is having dreams (that are almost too real) where she sees and speaks with Alex still, trying to keep him alive in her mind. ...

Review: Destiny Binds (Timber Wolves #1)

Image
Title: Destiny Binds (Timber Wolves #1) Author: Tammy Blackwell Summary: Scout Donovan is a girl who believes in rules, logic, and her lifelong love of Charlie Hagan. Alex Cole believes in destiny, magic, and Scout. When Alex introduces Scout to the world of Shifters, men who change into wolves or coyotes during the full moon and Seers, women who can see your most private thoughts and emotions with a mere touch, the knowledge changes everything and everyone Scout thought she knew Review: So I actually first read this book back before I wrote reviews, but I loved it (and the second book too) so much, that now that the 3 rd book is out, I knew I should reread them both before starting the 3 rd book and actually write up a review for them. So… here goes: Scout is a normal senior, living a pretty good life. She has a step brother (her mother and his father married after they were already born and their spouses both died) who is just a few months older than she, an...

Review: Judgment (deck of lies #4)

Image
Title: Judgment (Deck of Lies #4) Author: Jade Varden (Visit her site for TONS of useful writing tips and just all around awesomeness!) Summary: Cashing Out Do I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? How can I, when the truth will destroy us all? Now that I’ve started telling lies, I can’t stop. Not until all this is over, and I’m free of the family that never felt like mine. Maybe it’s wrong. Maybe I’m a bad person. But it’s definitely the only way I’m ever going to escape them. I have to take the opportunity, no matter how terrible it is...don’t I? Review: So… IT FINALLY CAME OUT! I have to say, I was SO nervous about how this series would end! I really cared about Rain and wanted her to have a good ending. Her life was ALL kinds of messed up. (not to mention, I always want the good guys to win and the bad guys to get justice) and I just really couldn’t see a way that could happen. I mean… at the end of Death… (the 3 rd book)...

Review: Blood and Snow #3 and #4

Image
Titles: The Vampire Christopher (Blood and Snow #3) and Blood Soaked Promises  (Volume 4) Author: RaShelle Workman Summary: Volume 3 and 4 in the BLOOD AND SNOW series. Each volume is novelette length.  Snow White must come to terms with her bloodlust. It's one thing to drink the blood of her Hunter, something else entirely to drink the blood of a human. EVERY THOUSAND YEARS THE VAMPIRE QUEEN SELECTS A NEW BODY, ALWAYS THE FAIREST IN THE LAND, AND THIS TIME SHE'S CHOSEN SNOW WHITE.  "Lips red as rubies. Hair dark as night.  Drink your true love's blood.  Become the Vampire, Snow White." Review: So… I didn’t write a separate review for book 3 or 4. Im just going to finish this review by reviewing the 4 together as 1. I think I would love this story. Though there are a few things that bother me, like her name, and Christophers last name. I don’t like how completely fragile she appears in the beginning and I don’t like how she is pretty...

Review: Revenant in Training

Image
TITLE: Revenant in Training  (Blood and Snow Volume 2) Author: RaShelle Workman Summary: Volume 2 in the BLOOD AND SNOW series. Each volume is novelette length.  Snow has become something not quite human. She must discover how to live with the changes, hopefully without killing anyone. Become the Vampire, Snow White. Review: So, the second installment in the Blood and Snow series was again pretty good. I really feel like all of these volumes should be combined into an actual book. But whatever. The writing was still solid and pretty. The story just continued right where we stopped before. She now is a Revenant, a human on the verge of changing into a vampire. Her best friends (all boys) and their adoptive step father are now going to train her. ...

Review: Blood and Snow

Image
TITLE: Blood and Snow   (Volume 1) Author: RaShelle Workman Summary : Volume 1 in the BLOOD AND SNOW series. Each volume is novelette length.  Snow White isn't an ordinary girl. She doesn't know that yet. Become the Vampire, Snow White." Review: I bought this book as a part of a 4 book set… except, they aren’t actually books. They are novellas… VERY short. The writing was good and solid and started the story well. However, when I bought this, I thought it was 4 NOVELS. Don’t get me wrong, I bought all 4 for only 0.99… but still. I just didn’t realize they were not full novels. Now- I don’t like short stories. You will hear me say this time and again. I like LONG novels, and Series, so the story just goes on and on. Anyways, like I sa...

Review: Beguiled by Rashelle Workman

Image
Title: Beguiled (Immortal Essence Book 2) Author: Rachelle Workman Summary: Venus has become immortal, just as she always wanted. In the process she hurt Zaren, lost Michael, and destroyed her family. At least that's what she believed. Turns out Ramien, the god of her planets' underworld, has her parents, and Michael. To save them, Venus makes a deal. She must complete three trials. They seem impossible. They certainly won't be easy. Worst of all, someone she loves won't make it out alive. Review: Once again, I was pretty impressed with this book and with Workman’s writing. I really enjoy to read her stories because she just writes so pretty! I mean, listen to the first line, “The dream was venom to my soul.”   Awesome. Here is another line, “One overwhelming emotion permeated. Terror.” Anyways, I love her writing.

Image
So, this will be a post completely unrelated to books (Crazy, I know… but I guess there’s gotta be a first for everything!) So… this weekend I started Christmas shopping and decorating! My sister wanted to tell me im ridiculous for being one of  those people … those crazy people that decorate for Christmas before we have even gotten to Thanksgiving… but oh well. I AM one of those people. AND- you know what I did? (other than spending too much money on presents and buying a tree and decorating it with my family…)

Cover Look-a-Like #4

Image
I read Hush Money a while ago and LOVED it!! So when I saw Ill Tell You Mine, it immediatly reminded me of it. This is the one I noticed a LONG time ago, and could never find it. I knew it was just like Smokeless Fire by the amazing Samantha Young, but it took me until today to find this one again. And this was just one I saw on Goodreads...

A. Believe it or not, I have NEVER thought about this before! So... at first I thought Avatar, only because it was such an awesome movie. BUT- it was so visual, that on the one hand, it might have made an awesome book, but so much of it wouldhave been visual, that its really best as a movie. So, I actually  decided on Cast Away with Tom Hanks, because that was such a great movie, and it would make a killer book!   Let me know if you are a new follower, so I can...
